«Lonely Fryshild» Op.6

Kjappland is a hidden realm located below all oceans of the world. This is where mermaids live. Everyone is pleased with their existence. Everyone but the young and graceful Fryshild. She has lost Yuppik, her protective white wolf. In rushing water, Fryshild waits for her best friend to return, struggling against devastating loneliness and fear.

Yuppik is the name of a husky dog that made a deep impression on Flint Juventino Beppe in 1991. His owner had trained Yuppik to produce wolf-like howls on command, and these sounds incited this composition. Beppe dedicated «Lonely Fryshild» Op.6 to Yuppik.

First performed by Frøydis Ree Wekre and Wolfgang Plagge.

Performed by Flint Juventino Beppe (MIDI). MIDI-recordings have several restrictions in dynamic and «human touch». The MIDI audio is only intended being a tool to give insight in the idiom of the work.
